Matchbox '68 Mercury Cougar

The Mercury Cougar was first released in 1967 and was originally a mix between the second-generation Mustang and the Ford Thunderbird. The car was an automobile sold under the Mercury brand of the Ford Motor Company's Lincoln-Mercury Division. The name was first used in 1967 and was carried by a diverse series of cars over the next three decades. As is common with Mercury vehicles, the Cougar shared basic platforms with Ford models. Originally this was the Mustang, but later versions of the Cougar were based on the Thunderbird, and the last was a version of the Contour/Mondeo. The Cougar was important to Mercury's image for many years, and advertising often identified its dealers as being "at the sign of the cat." The introduction of the Cougar finally gave Mercury its own pony car. Slotted between the Ford Mustang and the Ford Thunderbird, the Cougar would be the performance icon and eventually the icon for the Mercury name for several decades. The

Matchbox '69 Cadillac DeVille

In Cadillac parlance, DeVille was first used to designate a deluxe trim level on hardtop or "pillarless"-body cars. At first, DeVille trim was available only on the Series 62, but pillared sedans were not available in DeVille trim until the 1965 model year, when DeVille became an independent trim line including a convertible and pillared sedan. All GM full-size lines were completely redesigned for 1965 with the DeVille retaining its 129.5-inch (3,290 mm) wheelbase. Rounded body styling gave way to sharp, angled lines. Tailfins disappeared, and headlights were now stacked vertically allowing for a wider grille. The pillared sedan variant returned. Power was still supplied by the 429 cu in (7,030 cc) V8, which was replaced by the 472 cu in (7,730 cc) for 1968. That same year, the DeVille gained slight exterior changes to comply with new federal safety and emissions legislation, and as with the rest of the Cadillac lineup, a new 472 in³ (7.7 L) V8 engine rated at 3

Matchbox '71 Chevy Chevelle Convertible

The Chevrolet Chevelle was a mid-sized automobile from Chevrolet debuting in 1964. It was produced from 1964 through 1977 and was one of General Motors' most successful cars. Chevelle models ranged from economical family cars to powerful coupes and convertibles. For 1971, the base Chevelle SS engine was a two-barrel 350-cubic-inch V8 rated at 245 gross (165 net) horsepower and optionally available was a four-barrel carbureted version of the 350 V8 rated at 275 gross (200 net) horsepower. The big block engines of previous years were now extra-cost options including the 402 V8 rated at 300 gross (270 net) horsepower; and LS-5 454 V8 with 365 gross and 285 net horsepower. Chevrolet specifications for 1971 included both "gross" and "net" horsepower figures for all engines to ease the transition to 1972 and later years, when Chevy and other manufacturers only listed the "net" horsepower ratings. In mid-1971 and continued th

New Collection Alert!

It happened because they changed the store layout. I went to the local TRU the other day, hoping to score a few more toys. New G.I. Joe's? The movie line's already out. Transformers perhaps? Nah, I have fonder memories of Robotech. Ben 10? Maybe Star Wars or Batman? I had been at that particular store only two days prior and picked up a few Ben 10 capsule toys ( duplicates again...sigh) and so was familiar with the store layout and where the aisle for action figures was located. Lo and behold, they changed the layout and instead of action figures, row upon row of diecast cars loomed in front of me. Dont get me wrong, as a kid, I enjoyed playing with my matchbox tank, a shiny red fire engine with an extendable yellow ladder as well as the black and white police car. But I never got into collecting any of them. Until now. Since I was already there, I decided to look around. After a minute, my curiousity was piqued. And then I saw this baby: And this baby: And this baby: Seems l

ROC Snake Eyes

Snake Eyes is quiet in his movements and is a swift and deadly master of multiple martial arts. He is an expert in the use of the ninjato and trench knives (which he collects). He usually carries them in pairs but often uses only one. He is equally qualified with and willing to use standard weapons like firearms and explosives. Making him even more dangerous is that he rarely relies on one set of weapons to the exclusion of others. Hexagram 63 is named 既濟 (jì jì), "Already Fording". Other variations include "after completion" and "already completed" or "already done" . Its inner trigram is ☲ (離 lí) radiance = (火) fire, and its outer trigram is ☵ (坎 kǎn) gorge = (水) water.

More Rise of Cobra: Storm Shadow

Silent, methodical, and unflinching, Storm Shadow serves COBRA as its primary assassin but, more importantly, as the personal bodyguard of the maniacal Cobra Commander. Born Thomas Arashikage in the United States, he continued thirty generations of tradition and trained in Japan with the Arashikage Ninja Clan. Eventually joining the United States military, he served alongside and befriended the man who would become the enigma known as Snake-Eyes. Upon completing his tour of duty, Arashikage returned to Japan only to be framed for the murder of his uncle and leader of the Arashikage clan, the Hard Master. Learning that COBRA was responsible, he called himself Storm Shadow and joined the organization intent on discovering the identity of his uncle's assassin. Upon realizing the intensity of Storm Shadow's vengeance, Cobra Commander deceptively informed the ninja that he knew the identity of the Hard Master's killer and persuaded Storm Shadow to become his personal bodyguard.

Rise of Cobra: Storm Shadow

Storm Shadow is a fictional character from the G.I. Joe comics series and television shows. The character is best known for his history with fellow ninja Snake Eyes. Throughout their history, the duo have been everything to one another from the bitterest of enemies, to the most loyal of friends (and blood brothers) who would fight and die for one another. The G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra Storm Shadow toy. Storm Shadow is half of my Joe collection, the other being Snake Eyes. I'm planning to start a collection soon but I want to0 be more focused in collecting these toys. Photographed one lazy Saturday afternoon. The pictures above can be clicked for bigger versions.

The Barbarian: A Closer Look

The Barbarian, a member of any of several tribes on the fringes of civilization, rebuffs the influence of those he sees as soft and weak. Ceaseless clan warfare and the constant struggle to survive in the hostile wilderness are evident in the Barbarian's sturdy and powerful frame. Though perhaps lacking the sophistication of his civilized contemporaries, the Barbarian has an acute awareness of his surroundings. Because of his shamanistic belief in the animal powers with whom he identifies, the Barbarian is sometimes associated with stories of lycanthropy. In fact, he believes that he can improve his superb battle tactics by calling upon the totemic animal spirits to infuse him with supernormal strengths and abilities. Taken from The Arreat Summit

Diablo 2 Stikfas

Presenting Stikfas -- these acton figures are are 3.25 inch model assembly figures/toys. All of the figure's joints are ball & socket assemblies, giving exceptional poseability, interchangeability, and articulation. Once assembled, the different body types made can be customized with Stikers (stickers) and different pieces as well as accesories such as guns, sowrds, armor, animals, etc. to accentuate the "theme" of each kit. I'm fond of Stikfas and I'm hopeful that the toy's makers can develop the product even better. Here are my first customs inspired by the PC game Diablo 2 -- the Barbarian, the Amazon and the Paladin. I really enjoyed this game and the expansion set, making it my top computer game...ever! Check out the lowdown on this RPG here . Making the customs were easy but getting the paint into the working parts brought out some problems. I'll be correcting these as I work on the next figures. I've posted these customs at Paintstik.co

Opening the Toy Box

Welcome to my little area of the net. Here, I'll be documenting my penchant for toys -- the stuff I like, my hauls, my collections and the goodies I see here and there. But a disclaimer though, I'm not a hard-core collector, just an average guy who still enjoys toys. Enjoy!
