Personnel Carrier

Matchbox Personnel Carrier with black hubs (Open dot dash) . Produced 1976-1979, Number 54 in the Superfast series. The original Matchbox cars possessed thin, solid, disc-like wheels on heavy axles. These wheels were durable and (fairly) realistically proportioned to the vehicles, and were simple to make, but they generated a lot of friction and the cars were not very fast. When Hot Wheels (then a separate company) were introduced in 1968, they featured wider wheels on a thinner axle. The wheels were a made from a low friction plastic, and the axles were polished to further reduce friction; a much faster wheel set that created a much faster car. Sensing the play value of these faster, albeit less realistic cars, Lesney created the Superfast series, using the same types of wheels as Hot Wheels had.

Joaquin's Minions

My nephew Joaquin finally completes his Minions! And voila! A very happy little boy! From his mother's post: Many months later...many toystores after - near and faaaaar...kumpleto na ang mga Minions ni Joaquin! (Joaquin's minions are now complete!) Our first acquisition was Tim. Then came Stuart then Carl. Then the Purple Minion got to Joaquin after a 12- hour Christmas trip in a plane luggage. For weeks after, we searched for Dave in different toystores in different malls. Today, in a small specialty toystore in Greenhills, on one of the topmost shelves, hiding behind other Minions, was...Dave! Sa wakas. (At last.) posted from Bloggeroid

North American T-28 Trojan aka Tora-Tora

The North American Aviation T-28 Trojan was a piston-engined military trainer aircraft used by the United States Air Force and United States Navy beginning in the 1950s. Besides its use as a trainer, the T-28 was successfully employed as a Counter-insurgency (COIN) aircraft, primarily during the Vietnam War. After becoming adopted as a primary trainer by the USAF, the United States Navy and Marine Corps adopted it as well. Although the Air Force phased out the aircraft from primary pilot training by the early 1960s, continuing use only for limited training of special operations aircrews and for primary training of select foreign military personnel, the aircraft continued to be used as a primary trainer by the Navy (and by default, the Marine Corps and Coast Guard) well into the early 1980s. The Philippine Air Force 15th Strike Wing formerly utilized T-28Ds.

German Panzer Metal Pencil Sharpener

1983 Army Tank metal miniature pencil sharpener cast in zinc-alloy. Labeled "Made in Hong Kong." The tank depicted is the German Panzerkampfwagen IV commonly known as the Panzer IV. It was a developed in the late 1930s and used extensively during the Second World War. The Panzer IV was the only German tank to remain in both production and combat throughout World War II, and measured over the entire war it comprised 30% of the Wehrmacht's total tank strength. The sharpener was loaned to me by Laqy Laqueo.
