Chasmosaurus

Chasmosaurus was a ceratopsid dinosaur that lived in the Late Cretaceous period and greatly resembled a Triceratops. Its name means "open lizard" due to the large holes in its frill, and it was purely herbivorous. Chasmosaurus is found in almost all of western North America, which was still Laramidia in the time of Chasmosaurus, around 75 million years ago. It gives its name to the Chasmosaurinae, which is one of two main types of Ceratopsian, the other being the Centrosaurinae. The latter is known for its shorter frills and generally more elaborate and numerous horns. The Chasmosaurinae evolved later, though the Ceratopsians as a whole were relative latecomers compared to other Dinosaurs. The Chasmosaurinae are characterised by their more extensive frills and longer horns. Strangely enough, Chasmosaurus itself is an early example of the Chasmosaurinae, and lived alongside many Centosaurine Ceratopsians, such as Centrosaurus, Styracosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus. It had one of the largest skulls of any land animal, with only Pentaceratops, Triceratops and Torosaurus exceeding it in length (Pterosaurs, Hatzegopteryx and Quetzalcoatlus, technically also with their massive skulls). from the Jurassic Park wiki

The Nightmare Before Christmas: Doctor Finkelstein

Doctor Finkelstein is a resident of Halloween Town. He is the mad scientist and the "father" of Sally. He is described as a pale-as-a-sheet mad scientist with a duckbill-like mouth and a hinged skullcap that he can open up to reveal his brain. Doctor Finklestein lives in a large observatory with his living rag doll creation Sally and his hunchbacked assistant Igor. James Whale's Frankenstein is quoted in Finklestein's line "I made you with my own hands" which is ironic as Finklestein's body appears to be largely if not entirely artificial. Unlike Frankenstein who takes no responsibility for his creations and disowns them almost as soon as they are completed (much like the original Dr. Frankenstein), Finklestein takes full responsibility over Sally and acts as an over-protective father and in some ways an overbearing husband (thus explaining Sally's attempts to run away) by keeping her under lock and key under the pretext of shelterin...

Migrating to Facebook

After a tragedy in the family and a slow return to my hobbies, I've realized that I've been posting more on Facebook. It's easier, faster and the audience response is faster. So, posting here might be spasmodic at best for the time being. Bear with me as I decide what to do with my blogs, thanks!
