Allosaurus

Allosaurus ("different lizard") was the most common predator of the Late Jurassic period and the most dangerous. Like most meat-eating dinosaurs, its jaws were filled with serrated teeth shaped like blades. Computer studies suggest that Allosaurus attacked by using its upper jaw like a battle axe to hack at its victim, then it used its lower jaw to bite out a slice of meat. It might have been easy for an Allosaurus to kill a fairly defenseless dinosaur like Camptosaurus, but Stegosaurus could certainly put up a fight, and the sauropods (giant long-necks) were so huge that they could easily crush even an adult Allosaurus. We know that Allosaurus led a dangerous life. The Allosaurus on display at the Smithsonian Institute has a smashed shoulder blade, many broken ribs, and a lower jaw so damaged that paleontologists didn't realize it was an Allosaurus jaw for over 100 years! But these were tough dinosaurs: Their bones show that they lived long enough for their wounds to heal. from the Jurassic Park wiki

BBI Elite Force M1 Abrams

Just a quickie today, still got a ton of work to finish. It's a BBI Elite Force 1:18 M1 Abrams MBT! A coworker decided to streamline his collection and sold me this tank and two humvees. More pics soon when I get a chance to pose them with my G.I. Joes.

The Nightmare Before Christmas: Doctor Finkelstein

Doctor Finkelstein is a resident of Halloween Town. He is the mad scientist and the "father" of Sally. He is described as a pale-as-a-sheet mad scientist with a duckbill-like mouth and a hinged skullcap that he can open up to reveal his brain. Doctor Finklestein lives in a large observatory with his living rag doll creation Sally and his hunchbacked assistant Igor. James Whale's Frankenstein is quoted in Finklestein's line "I made you with my own hands" which is ironic as Finklestein's body appears to be largely if not entirely artificial. Unlike Frankenstein who takes no responsibility for his creations and disowns them almost as soon as they are completed (much like the original Dr. Frankenstein), Finklestein takes full responsibility over Sally and acts as an over-protective father and in some ways an overbearing husband (thus explaining Sally's attempts to run away) by keeping her under lock and key under the pretext of shelterin...

Star Wars 3D Chess Set

I got this wonderful Star Wars chess set as a gift last Christmas. Its a huge set, being a bit bigger than my usual wood, traditional chess sets. The box top opens to reveal the figures mounted in a pvc shell with the board and an owner's manual behind. The set is distributed by United Labels Comicware based out in Spain but does not specify which country the components were manufactured in. Funny though that the box art features Republic Clone Troopers rather than the Imperial Stormtroopers. Call me stuck up but it gets me the same way when some people don't differentiate between Republican Roman Legions and Imperial Roman Legions. Ah, Gods of Geekery! Anyway, the set features the Galactic Empire versus the Rebel Alliance with The heroes and villains acting as the playing pieces.  Unboxing the content, you'll find the following game contents: Black (Galactic Empire) Emperor Palpatine (King) Darth Vader (Queen) Imperial Stormtrooper (Bishop) Imperial Ro...
